Photographic rock and rollers fight with ear bending deafness and out of this world stage lighting.  The challenge for lens-men (or lens-women) is to hold the detail in the virtual darkness.
 
What you see is not always what you get.  The nuance of stage lighting and background can blow out the highlights and/or blend the shadows into deeper shadows.
