Blog: Announcing the Winners of Our "From Your Archives" Photography Competition

We are happy to announce the winners of our "From Your Archives" Photography competition sponsored by Data Robotics - "Creative pros trust their work to Drobo".  We are very pleased with the quality of the photographs from all the entries and the judging was quite difficult.  The first place winner is Le Pham for his photograph "Baby Steps" and he has won a Driveless Drobo-S.

1st Place (#24) – “Baby Steps” by Le Pham  (ledpham) – We liked the strong juxtaposition of the subject to background for graphics and emotion. It conveyed the sense of surfing down a staircase. The body language told a nice story of childlike wonderment. We were all stopped by the image.

2nd Place (#96) -  "A Descending into Blue" by Russ Taylor (nomadruss) – We reacted to the striking color, contrasted against the pink clothing. The compositional placement of the wrapped foot was a bit non-conventional, but did allow the viewer to have an appreciation for eye movement.

3rd Place  (#97) – “Camel Driver's Daugther” by Russ Taylor (nomadruss) – The eyes and blue on blue color palette grabs the viewer. Of all the photos we judged, it was one of the few that make personal contact with the viewer, a confrontational image. The catch lights in her eyes draws the viewer into the frame.

4th Place  (#98) – "No Cow Hand Out" by Russ Taylor (nomadruss) – We brought the image up to 4th place, from an HM. We love the subtle colors, it was humorous, and we would enjoy having the photo hanging on the wall. The cow in the kitchen, a hand coming out of nowhere, and the subtle color worked together in harmony.
